Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)
Do you get this? I am not sure I do. I feel like I am just on the edge of getting it. I kind of understand it with my head, but, I am not quite sure I have gotten it down in my heart. I know with surety though that if I did have it in my heart my life would change.
Check the New International Version:
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
The heart. It determines your life, but, there is a catch. You must guard it. What does this mean? If you have to guard it then there is a reason. If the issues of life come out of the heart then, the reason the heart must be guarded is that it can also receive input. So if it receives input and “out of it are the issues of life,” then it matters what goes in. This is why the word of God is so important to His people. God says “my people perish because of a lack of knowledge.”(Hosea 4:6)
This comes down to faith. This piece of information in proverbs is a doorway to a new life. Do you believe it? If you do it could change your life. Understanding the way the heart works is the a key to understanding how to let God change your life.
