I first heard of the raw food diet back in 1995 at church. They showed a video of a guy who beat colon cancer by changing his diet. He went cold turkey to an all raw fruits, vegetable, nuts, and legumes diet. He said with in six month the doctors could not find the cancer. I tucked it away in the back of my mind and didn’t think about it for several years.
In 2006 when the diet surface again in my mind. I began doing some research on cleansing the body and came across the lemonade detox system. I did the detox. It was suggested that a raw food diet should be the choice of diets after the detox. So that’s how I first came to try it for the first time. I last about 20 days before my craving for something cooked over came me.
I was never hungry. There was plenty of sustaining foods to eat. After a meal I never felt dissatisfied. Not even once. What I discovered though is that I am, like all Americans, addicted to cooked, fatty, greasy foods. However, the more I eat the standard American diet (S.A.D), the worse I feel. Maybe I never would have known how bad I felt, or, what was causing it if I had never tried the raw food diet. But while I was on the diet I felt great. I had plenty of energy. My blood pressure went down almost immediately. I lost nearly 20 pounds. I just felt good inside and out. There were times I thought I could feel my body vibrating or purring.
Since that time I have not been able to successfully get on this diet and stay. Right now is a major goal in my life. I need to make this life-style change. I plan to record victories and failures on this site..So, if you are interested stop by again to see how I am doing.
