Tony Tate
My name is Tony Tate. I am from the Houston area – a place called Baytown. I was born March 1, 1963 Tony Lovette Brown. I was adopted by my step dad and took his last name (Tate) when I was in the sixth grade.
I began playing music when I was 8 or 9 years old. I started with the guitar. I moved to the saxophone and piano when I got to the sixth grade. I did a couple of years of college got tired a and quit. After working a few years I joined the Navy. Shortly after joining I auditioned for the Navy Band program where I spent 19+ years.
Thanks to the Navy I have been all over the world and performed for thousands of people. I had a great time but I’m glad to be out. The year before joining the Navy I gave my life to the Lord. He has done a better job with it than I think I ever would have. He has taken me places using my talent. Not many people can say that their talent has allowed them to travel the world. It has been great, not just the navy, but my life. I have met and have friends all over the country.
I have faced hard times as well. I am divorced. I have two great kids who also sing. Their names are Gabriel and Kirsten. I don’t have any excuse for not writing and recording for the past 6 year except I had a hard time getting through this time in my life. The Lord has sustained me though. I look forward to what He has planned for me in the future.
