America – A Post Christian Nation?

in end time prophecy

Homelessness is still a problem in the United States. I ran across this man as I was on my way to Savannah, Georgia to meet my kids this weekend. He was sitting outside the Convenience store/Gas station at Jekyll Island. He was a very nice guy. He didn’t look like he had been homeless long. Of course I would not have known just by looking at the man how long he had been homeless anyway. I didn’t ask him. He was just sitting patiently asking those passing by if they could spare some change. I don’t usually carry cash but I did have a couple of dollars in my pocket so I gave it to him. There was something about him I couldn’t put my finger on. He didn’t seem to have the problem most homeless people seem to have when asking for money. Most of them don’t get very much because people ignore them and just pass by like they didn’t see them. I saw at least one person drop money into his cup without him having to ask. When I saw him, I wanted to give to him. Perhaps he was a giver himself. Remember Jesus said,

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6: 38)

Do you think that you could ever be homeless? I would say that many Christians think that the Lord wouldn’t allow them to be homeless because “we’re Christian.” What about the children of Israel though? When they left Egypt all they had was their clothes, a little food, some cattle, and tents. They were homeless, and, ended up being homeless and wandering the desert for 40 years. So, it is not inconceivable that Christians could be homeless, and, maybe even lead into such a situation by God.

There is a huge disagreement among Christians about the timing of the rapture. Some believe that we will be raptured before the “great tribulation.” Some think it will happen during or in the middle. Some think it will happen at the end. Has anyone thought of this though? – that the times and events leading up to the great tribulation could get pretty rough for believers?  It won’t matter whether you are a post, pre, or middle of the trib believer. It may be  so rough that Christians may have to go into hiding. Around the world in many countries Christians face “great tribulation” on a daily basis. Many of them losing their lives for the faith. We in the west have never faced this kind of testing of our faith. I believe that day is coming.

We may have to run. We may have to hide. Our churches may have to go underground because of increasing intolerance of biblical views. We are becoming more and more, to the world around us, a disease that needs to be dealt with. This is a post Christian nation and biblical views, God’s word, and God’s people are increasingly under attack. Homelessness could one day be a blessing in the coming days of survival. Could the Spirit being saying this to the believer?

I do believe that everything will come to an end. I question if it will be anytime soon. I understand that many people say that we are getting more and more away from God in everyday life with the passing of certain laws, and different trends coming out in the world; but there is still a HUGE Christian base…or at least where I live.

If anything, a majority of this last election was about God. Every single day there was something else about what religion someone was on TV. I do understand that having God and having religion are two different things–but the awareness is still there.

I do believe what is in the Bible to be true and that things will happen and Christians will be persecuted one day for their beliefs, but I don’t know that I believe that we (as a nation) are so far away from God that we are a ‘post Christian nation.’

I will say that some of the anti-Christian views I believe are created by those who see “Radical Christians” (people who run into Taco Bells screaming at homosexuals that they are going to hell and slapping them in the face with Bibles). I am not saying that I don’t believe that you should hold fast to your beliefs and tell people about God but I don’t really see that Jesus would do that to anyone.

But, I do agree, that there are some that would like to irradicate Christianity completely…

So I know I went off on a tangent and that I got away from the subject a little in my post, but I don’t think that i’m being naive when I say that I believe that we are still strongly (not a Christian nation) but one who likes to portray themselves as one. I know that portraying isn’t being, but they couldn’t get votes without the God factor, or they wouldn’t use it so much. I believe that something huge would have to come along to erase that image because it’s one that we’ve had for years (such as the Anti-Christ…but that’s another story).

start reading the scripture. Ask the Lord to help your understanding. We are definitely in the time frame of end time prophecy.
